FOCUS

LIHH's overarching goal is to support the transformation processes in logistics with its activities and to strengthen the competitiveness of companies and the Hamburg metropolitan region as an attractive and diverse European logistics centre. Under our guiding principles of ‘Innovation & Value Creation’ and ‘Network & Cooperation’, we work in four fields of action that cover a broad spectrum of supply chain topics in Hamburg as a logistics centre.

We are taking a particularly close look at some of the topics or sub-areas from the fields of action for a certain period of time.

Our fields of action

Through our activities, we support logistics-related companies and institutions and facilitate the transfer of knowledge between business, science, politics and administration. Our network forms the important foundation for our work. Whether global player, SME or start-up, step by step we drive innovative solutions and the development of measures and projects along the entire supply chain.

We have aligned our strategy with these goals in mind. Our four fields of action form our thematic focus for projects, formats and offers.

Intelligent infrastructure & land utilisation

With the aim of further establishing Hamburg as a model region for urban logistics solutions, we support and accompany the development of concepts for the intelligent use of infrastructures: we promote sustainable property and space concepts, drive innovative logistics and transport solutions, think logistics and mobility together and bring the players in urban logistics together in order to jointly position the city and metropolitan region of Hamburg as a pioneer for new concepts.

Sustainability

Transport and logistics are an important driver of economic growth and prosperity. However, the challenges facing the sector on the road to a sustainable future are constantly increasing. The continuous growth in freight transport is placing an increasing burden on infrastructure and the environment, while at the same time the industry is faced with a considerable shortage of skilled labour. LIHH initiates and drives forward projects that promote sustainable logistics in terms of ecological, social and economic sustainability in the Hamburg metropolitan region.

Talent acquisition and corporate culture

With the aim of securing and qualifying skilled workers for the logistics industry, we are driving forward the securing and expansion of the skilled labour base in the metropolitan region, taking demographic change and digital transformation into account. We highlight ways in which employers can create an attractive environment and thus contribute to a positive image of logistics.
